Why Isha doesn’t talk at all in Arcane Season 2
The reason why Isha doesn’t talk in Arcane Season 2 has not yet been revealed.
Isha is introduced in Season 2 of Arcane as a mysterious and intriguing character. In her first scene, she attempts to escape from goons in the Undercity. However, Jinx comes to her rescue, and it quickly becomes clear that Isha idolizes her. The two spend time together and begin to form a strong bond. However, fans were left confused when Isha remained mute in the show, despite her growing friendship with Jinx. The character’s voice actress, Lucy Lowe, is credited on the series’ IMDb, but she has yet to provide any dialogue for Isha.
While the makers of the series haven’t addressed this aspect, fans came up with their own theories on social media. Some believe the reason behind Isha’s mutism could be her dark past or traumas. As seen in her introduction, Isha was chased by goons in Zaun which hints at a past with the gang. Zaun is a troublesome place so it is possible Isha faced some serious troubles with the goons. On the other hand, she grows quickly attached to Jinx in their first encounter. This also hints at Isha growing up without a family and so she yearns for affection. Isha possibly became mute as she had no elders teaching her to speak.
Nevertheless, Isha’s mutism doesn’t affect her character. She can smartly communicate using sign language, and noises. In the recent episode, Isha used a hand signal to request Jinx to have a rematch with their fighting bug. Jinx also easily gets convinced by Isha’s sign language reflecting their strong connection which is beyond words.
