Taylor Louderman, best known for playing Regina George in the Broadway musical adaptation of Mean Girls, was one of the actors who had auditioned for Glinda. She revealed this after sharing a screenshot of Deadline’s casting announcement for Glinda on Instagram. “yyyy did I even audition or think I had a chance?,” she wrote. Louderman then opined that an actor should not get attached to the role they were auditioning for not to feel hurt when they ultimately do not get the part. However, she added that one had to “care enough” to give their 100 percent. “I cared too much this time,” she added. (via Just Jared)
Amanda Seyfried
Mamma Mia! actress Amanda Seyfried confirmed in an interview with Backstage that she auditioned for Glinda, claiming she badly wanted the role. “I literally bent over backwards while playing the hardest role of my life. But I think it also taught me how far I’ve come as a singer, which I really wanted to prove,” she added. “Because ever since “Les Miz,” I was like, I need to be better. I need to do better. So whatever comes next in terms of musicals, I’m finally prepared.”
Dove Cameron
Descendants star Dove Cameron was yet another actress who auditioned for Glinda. She had confirmed it in a The Wrap interview. “I know that for everybody who did go out for it, it was a very long process,” she added. “It was one of the longer processes I’ve been a part of.” Cameron had earlier revealed in an Entertainment Tonight interview that she had been dreaming of getting the role since she was 7 and called it “the role of a lifetime.”
