However, amidst the ongoing track, fans were confused about the usage of the code word—COD—in the premiere episode. So, what does COD mean in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2?
Here is everything you need to know about this word used in the series.
What is the meaning and full form of COD in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2?
The meaning and full form of COD is the cause of death.
Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 premiere showcased the death of John Dutton while he was supposed to leave for the impeachment trial. Jamie received the shocking news in his office through a phone call which was likely from the police department. However, the person on call said a confusing code in police language as he broke the news. He said, “We have a time: 3:53 a.m. We have a confirmed COD: 10-56. Do you copy? 10-56.”
While 3.53 am meant the time, fans were confused about the use of COD which was 10-56. However, COD means the cause of death and 10-56 is also a police code for death by suicide. As we have seen, John’s death was ruled out as a suicide. Jamie revealed in the media that his father shot himself as the weapon was lying next to him. Later, the COD word is used again when Kayce calls up the police to enquire about his father’s death. He asks if the COD is “official” as he and Beth refuse to believe that their father could end his life.
Despite the police declaring John’s death as suicide, his COD was something else. John was actually murdered by a hitman hired by Sarah as she wanted Jamie to replace John in his office. Jamie was taken aback by this revelation as he never wanted his father dead. It will be interesting to see if John’s killer will be exposed or if Jamie will land in new trouble.
