The thriller series Cross is piquing interest. It revolves around the adventures of detective Alex Cross, who tracks down mysterious serial killers. As the show is now available for streaming, discussions are sparking across social media regarding the climax and killer of Cross’ wife, Maria. So, here is the Cross ending explained featuring spoilers.
What happened at the end of Alex Cross TV series on Prime Video?
At the end of the series, Cross declares that the case’s suspect Deirdre Nolan cannot be “fixed.” As a result, Nolan gets a life sentence and she ends up committing suicide. While this case is closed, Cross begins to face numerous problems after many years.
His wife is murdered and his family gets stalked by a mysterious personality. Further, Cross’ grandmother gets attacked after naming her grandson. Soon, Cross finds out that a man named Peter is the stalker, seeking revenge for Deirdre. He also connects the dots that Damon’s piano tutor, Nancy, adopted Peter and Nolan, making her their adoptive mother. She has been helping Peter in his evil plans against Cross’ family. Further, Nancy puts a gun at Cross’ head and asks him to choose the kids he wants dead.
Cross suspects Nancy’s behavior and learns that Deirdre had taken the blame for Peter’s crime on Nancy’s orders. Nancy believed that the court wouldn’t give a brutal punishment to Deirdre perhaps due to her white race. However, the young girl failed to survive in the prison. Following this, Peter refuses to kill Cross’ children. Later, John Sampson arrives to the rescue and Nancy sets herself on fire.
Who killed Maria on Cross and how?
While the show suggests Peter might have killed Maria on Nancy’s orders, there could be other possibilities as well.
Nancy repeated Maria’s last words in front of Cross but she revealed that it was told to her by someone else. The person is not Peter because Nancy won’t mention “[she] was told” in front of Peter if he was the killer.
Earlier, Cross received a phone call from an unknown woman who asked him if he wanted to know his wife’s last words. This means a third person might be involved in the murder apart from Peter and Nancy. Further, the person who came to return Maria’s scarf remains a mystery as well despite the doubts on the mother-son duo. On the other hand, the original book mentioned that Peter was not the killer. So, it seems if Peter is not the killer, then perhaps Maria’s murder mystery could be solved in the series’ potential sequel with a twist.
