Despite winning big at the 2024 MTV Awards, fans were quick to question her reasons for skipping the event. Why are fans making fun of Taylor Swift?
On November 10, 2024, the MTV Europe Music Awards celebrated top music talents worldwide. Leading the nominations, Taylor Swift secured seven nods and won four awards, including the prestigious Best Video Award for Fortnight alongside Post Malone. Fans, however, were disappointed by her absence from the event and looked forward to seeing their favorite star in attendance.
While Swift could not make it to the big night, she ended up sending a pre-recorded acceptance speech. The Lover singer stated, ”I am coming to you from the Eras Tour, and I’m so sad that I can’t be with you tonight.” (via Page Six)
However, Swifties weren’t entirely convinced. They were quick to judge and find out another reason behind her absence. Swift’s footage of the event was played at night in the UK when it was afternoon in Kansas City. For the unaware, Swift recently attended Kelce’s crucial game against the Broncos in Kansas.
As a result, Swifties came up with their humorous takes on X (formerly Twitter). One user repeated Swift’s statement which she ended by calling her a liar. Another user wrote, ”HELP not her acting like she’s busy when she’s really at her man’s game valid.”
Further, a fan stated that calling in sick at work doesn’t apply to Taylor Swift. One more fan expressed that even though Swift deserved the rest after the tour she should have avoided lying on international TV.
