Cara was introduced in the first season of the show as an emergency room nurse and used to look after her mother. She was also the lead character Bode’s former girlfriend who eventually fell in love with his childhood friend Jake.
While Cara left an impact in the first season, things were about to take a drastic turn in Season 2. The fifth episode sees her life falling in danger. Gadecki was also aware of the makers’ decision beforehand although she did not wish for her character to be killed off. In an interview with US Magazine, showrunner Tia Napolitano revealed that they killed off Cara to “complicate” the storyline. She spoke up about how they wanted to make her daughter Genevieve’s story interesting with only one parent surviving.
