How Did Nicole Scherzinger React to Backlash After Russell Brand’s Post?

Singer Nicole Scherzinger was recently criticized for engaging with posts that some interpreted as supportive of Donald Trump and his political views. She has now addressed the backlash with a public apology after her social media interactions sparked controversy.

Here is how Nicole Scherzinger reacted to backlash after comedian Russell Brand‘s post.

Nicole Scherzinger apologizes after facing backlash

Nicole Scherzinger issued an apology after facing backlash for interacting with social media posts that many interpreted as supporting President-elect Donald Trump. As the backlash grew, Scherzinger posted a statement on her Instagram Stories, offering a public apology.

In her message, she expressed regret for her actions. The singer admitted that she didn’t realize how others could view her comment as politically charged. “Many presumptions are being drawn, which do not reflect who I am, what I stand for, or who I voted for. Many of the marginalized communities feeling hurt and concerned by the results of the presidential election are people I care about most.”

She further wrote, “I stand with them, as I always have, throughout my life and career.” Scherzinger also emphasized that she engaged with the posts to promote love, faith, and “putting Jesus first” (via Entertainment Weekly).

The controversy began when Scherzinger commented on a post by comedian Russell Brand. She wrote, “Where do I get this hat!!!?” Brand had shared a photo of himself wearing a red baseball cap that read “Make Jesus First Again,” a phrase many saw as a clear nod to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

Although Scherzinger quickly deleted the comment, it had already sparked backlash. Many social media users associated her with Trump’s political movement. Adding to the controversy, reports also stated that Scherzinger liked an Instagram post by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., wherein he expressed support for Trump’s second presidential campaign.
