Rumors have been circulating online suggesting that Ryan Reynolds has been approached for hosting Oscars 2025. As a result, many fans are wondering how authentic they are and if Reynolds has confirmed anything about it. Recently, the Deadpool actor addressed the speculation, expressing his aspirations for hosting it in the future. Here’s what he said.
Ryan Reynolds’ statement on 2025 Oscars hosting rumors explained
Recently, rumors emerged that Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are top contenders for hosting the upcoming 2025 Academy Awards. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case, given Reynold’s recent remarks.
In a conversation with Variety for its Awards Circuit podcast, Ryan Reynolds debunked the ongoing rumors about him hosting the Oscars event for 2025. He said that it is a “difficult job” to do.
Remembering the amazing hosts of previous years, he said, “We’ve had people that have come before us that did it flawlessly, I think, and you’ve had people who are so talented and just based on what’s happening out there in the zeitgeist you’re like, ‘Oh, that was hard. It’s a very hard job.'” (via People)
However, he didn’t completely rule out the possibility of being an Oscar host someday. Rather, he considered it to be a “dream.” He said, “It would be a dream to do it one day.” But, for now, Reynolds seems to be engrossed for a year with writing a non-Marvel movie for him, Jackman, and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy.
The Oscars 2024 event was quite exciting with many big films like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, and others being in intense competition for different categories. This year, Jimmy Kimmel flaunted his effortless hosting skills at the 96th Academy Awards, which took place on March 10, 2024, at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre. For Kimmel, it was his fourth time being an Oscar host.
The 97th Academy Awards will be held likely on March 2, 2025, at the same venue.
