Actor Chris Pratt has been facing immense trolling online following the comment he made after the 2024 presidential election results. The polls saw Republican candidate Donald Trump clench the win with 295 electoral votes. Consequently, he got elected as the President of the US for a second time. Trump was in a tough match-up with current US VP Kamala Harris, who joined the race after POTUS Joe Biden recalled his nomination from the elections.
Chris Pratt criticized for his 2024 election comment
The Guardians of the Galaxy star recently penned his thoughts on the 2024 election results in a lengthy essay.
The opinion piece was posted on Pratt’s mother-in-law Maria Shriver’s blog, Sunday Paper. In the detailed comment, he tried to keep a neutral take on the 2024 elections. Unfortunately, Pratt’s statement was not well-received by the masses. In fact, online users alleged that the actor is afraid of picking a side.
In the essay titled, “Win or Lose, My Hope Is We Show Up for Each Other,” Pratt emphasized how losing and winning are a part of life. He gave some examples from his childhood and how he learned to enjoy being a part of something bigger than himself. The actor also connected it to the current presidential race, which had people divided between Trump and Harris.
Pratt added, “I feel as though we live in a time now when so many people have yet to learn that lesson. Sometimes your team doesn’t win. I write this now because about half of the voting population is going to be incredibly disappointed on November 6th. It’s OK to take a moment to lick your wounds when you lose. Heck, go ahead and cry in the mirror. But if we become too paralyzed by defeat or too pompous in victory, allegiance to our “team” can blind us to the fact that we are fellow countrymen.”
In his comment, Chris Pratt further emphasized that every person should come together for the nation’s welfare, despite the results. However, the negative reactions to his essay have left him surprised. Per The Daily Mail, a source close to the actor shared, “He’s surprised by the reaction to his op-ed. He wanted people to talk about it and to make an impact.”
