Here’s everything we know about whether Haikyuu will get a Season 5 release date and if the anime is already over.
Is there a Haikyuu Season 5 release date?
Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that Haikyuu will return for Season 5.
Fans have been anticipating the release date of Season 5 of the beloved anime since 2020, following the arrival of Season 4. However, as of writing, no new season has been greenlit by the creators of the series. The possibility of a fifth season was shut down for good when it was announced that two anime movies in the franchise will serve as the finale of the story.
Is the Haikyuu!! anime over?
The Haikyuu anime series is over but two anime movies will draw the curtains to the story, the first of which has been released.
The original manga by Haruichi Furudate was concluded in July 2020. At the Haikyu!! x V.League Allstar Special Match ‘The Volleyball’ event in 2022, the creators of the show announced two movies will conclude the story of the Karasuno players. Out of these, the first movie Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle came out in Japan in February 2024. A few months later, it was made available to viewers in the United States and Canada on May 31. The details of the next and final movie have not been disclosed.
Even though the creators have confirmed that the two sequel movies will serve as the series finale, fans are concerned that they won’t be enough to adapt all the chapters left. Discussions are rampant online regarding how much the final movies will be able to include in them. Fans are worried that some content might not make it to the screen. The makers have not made any further comments on the matter. It looks like fans will just have to wait for the final movie to arrive.
