  • Chief Joseph Ranch, Darby, Montana: The real-life Chief Joseph Ranch serves as the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. For Season 4 and beyond, this is where the shooting takes place.
  • Hamilton, Montana: Filming included the Montana Livestock Association building and the Daly Mansion, a historic venue open for tours.
  • Helena, Montana: The Montana State Capitol doubles as the governor’s office.

In a conversation with TV Insider, Shane Libel, the actual owner of the Dutton ranch, shared his views on the show’s success. “I’ll tell you what’s extraordinarily humbling: sitting in my living room watching this show that is filmed in my house, and the show is watched by millions and millions of people worldwide,” Libel shared. “I sit there and realize that, to millions of people, my house is quintessential Montana.”
