What Did Kamala Harris Say About Donald Trump’s Garbage Truck Fail?

Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live” (SNL). In a last-minute appearance on the show, the Democratic presidential nominee mocked Republican candidate Donald Trump’s failed attempt at opening the garbage truck door twice before finally succeeding. In a viral video, the former president climbed a campaign-themed garbage truck as a dig towards President Biden’s remarks on a video call last week.

Kamala Harris made a joke about Donald Trump’s garbage truck stunt on SNL

During her debut on the latest “Saturday Night Live” episode, Kamala Harris accompanied Maya Rudolph, who plays the vice president in the comedy show’s political skits. Amid loud cheers from the audience, Harris took a dig at Donald Trump’s recent stunt when he failed to open the campaign-themed garbage truck door twice before making it into the vehicle.

In conversation with her skit character, Kamala Harris said to Rudolph, “I’m just here to remind you, you got this. Because you can do something your opponent cannot do, you can open doors.” The actor then reaffirmed that the vice president was indeed talking about Donald Trump’s struggle to open the garbage truck door.

During his visit to Green Bay, Wisconsin, Trump disembarked a Boeing 757 and walked towards a campaign-themed garbage truck. While walking on the rain-soaked tarmac, the former president missed the truck’s handle twice before opening the door. He then climbed onto the white passenger seat of the vehicle. He also drew attention by wearing an orange and yellow safety vest over his clothes.

After making himself comfortable, Trump told reporters, “How do you like my garbage truck? This is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.” The Republican presidential nominee was referring to President Biden’s remarks on a video call for Latino voter outreach. Biden was responding to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”

In the call, Biden called out the comedian’s comments before showing his support for the Puerto Rican community. He then said, “The only garbage I see floating out there is his [Trump’s] supporters.” Meanwhile, the White House released a transcript clarifying that Biden was only referring to one supporter — the comedian — during his comments. The president also echoed a similar sentiment in his statement on X (formerly Twitter).
