Despite just being nine weeks into the 2024-25 NFL season, most of the competing teams have already seen several of their first-team players getting sidelined due to fitness issues. One of the most high-profile footballers to sustain a major injury this term is Isiah Pacheco, who has been out of action since September. But what actually happened to the up-and-coming running back?
Here are all the details regarding Pacheco’s ongoing ailment, including his estimated return.
How did Isiah Pacheco get injured?
Isiah Pacheco sustained an injury to his right leg during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 2 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The 25-year-old footballer reportedly suffered from a fractured fibula in the game, forcing him to retreat to the sidelines. As such, Pacheco was seen exiting the Arrowhead Stadium on crutches with a walking boot around his right foot. Since his injury, Isiah Pacheco has remained on the Chiefs’ injured reserve list.
When will Isiah Pacheco return to NFL?
As per the latest update regarding his injury, Isiah Pacheco is expected to return to the field in late November.
The briefing was provided by renowned NFL analyst Ian Rapoport, according to Sports Illustrated. In his report, Rapoport claimed that Pacheo should be able to resume training in a few weeks. “My understanding is [that] Pacheco, who suffered a fractured fibula, is expected to resume practice in two to three weeks. He’s targeting a late-November return,” he said.
Prior to his return to the field after his injury, Isiah Pacheco will have to complete his 21-day ramp-up window. This duration serves as an interim period for players on the injured reserve list to return to practice before they can be re-initiated into the official roster of their team. If Rapoport’s updates are to be believed, Pacheco should be able to take the field in late November or early December at the latest.
The Kansas City Chiefs presently remain undefeated in the ongoing NFL season. In their quest for a record-third consecutive Super Bowl title, the Chiefs will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next.
