One of the most important relationships Matt Murdock / Daredevil had in Netflix’s Marvel shows was with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk / Kingpin. However, actor Charlie Cox recently disclosed that these two characters would not have many scenes together in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil: Born Again will only have a few scenes with Matt Murdock and Kingpin together
Cox revealed in a recent interview that his and D’Onofrio’s characters would not appear in many scenes together in Daredevil: Born Again. That was reportedly the case in the Netflix show as well, despite the fact these two characters are widely regarded as each other’s worst enemies.
“With these characters, you have to always feel like, were they to cross paths, they would fight to the death… it would be hugely explosive,” Cox explained to Collider. “So, you have to, in the writing of a show, in the construction of it, you have to limit the amount of time they can be together or you have to give them real reason for them not to be together,” he added.
Daredevil: Born Again is all set to reintroduce Cox’s rendition of Matt Murdock / Daredevil as a lead character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The visually impaired superhero previously appeared in Netflix’s Daredevil and associated shows and served as a supporting character in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022) and Echo (2024). Cox also made a cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and is lending his voice to Daredevil in the upcoming animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Marvel’s Netflix shows have already established the complex dynamic between Murdock and Fisk, so it makes sense for Daredevil: Born Again to concentrate on fleshing out other aspects of the plot. This will automatically build tensions around the scenes in which the two characters encounter one another.
Daredevil: Born Again debuts on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. Besides Cox and D’Onofrio, the cast includes Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page.
