Venom: The Last Dance Ending Explained & Spoilers: What Happens to Eddie?

Venom: The Last Dance is the third and concluding chapter of Tom Hardy’s Venom movies, and the viewers are understandably wondering how things end for Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote. In this movie, they face a cosmic-level threat from Knull, the creator of all symbiotes, while being on the run from the clandestine government initiative known as the Imperium Program, led by Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Rex Strickland. With the fate of the universe on the line, Eddie and Venom must make decisions that will have long-lasting consequences.

Here is everything that happens at the end of Venom: The Last Dance.

What happens to Eddie and Venom at the end of The Last Dance?

In Venom: The Last Dance, Knull sends an army of Xenophages to find the Codex, which is supposed to be the key to releasing him from the prison the Symbiotes trapped him in eons ago. Meanwhile on Earth, Area 51 is being decommissioned. However, the Area 55 Imperium Program, established to capture and study the Symbiotes, is very much active within the facility’s parameters.

Fleeing from both the Xenophages and the Imperium, Eddie and Venom find their way to Las Vegas, where they are eventually captured by Strickland’s team. Once in Area 55, Eddie undergoes interrogation. The Xenophages attack the facility after Venom escapes. This prompts the other symbiotes in Area 55 to bond with the staff members there, but the Xenophages slaughter them. Stephen Graham’s Patrick Mulligan dies as well.

Venom inadvertently created the Codex when he saved Eddie’s life in the first movie. The Symbiote realizes that he must sacrifice himself to save Eddie and destroy the Codex. He separates from Eddie and grabs the Xenopages before giving them an acid bath. A fatally wounded Strickland subsequently destroys them by detonating a grenade.

Juno Temple’s Dr. Teddy Payne survives after bonding with the Agony symbiote and gains the power of super speed. As for Eddie, with his criminal record expunged, he visits the Statue of Liberty in New York, just as he and Venom discussed in their last moments together.

Will Knull return in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe?

In the mid-credits scene of Venom: The Last Dance, Knull reappears, and the viewers see his face for the first time properly. Portrayed by Andy Serkis, Knull seemingly addresses the audience, promising that he will kill the world and “everyone will burn.”

Although Knull fails to escape his prison in this movie, he will likely be a major component in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe going forward. There are rumors that he could be part of Spider-Man 4, so he can potentially be introduced in the mainstream MCU as well.
