No, Liam Neeson Is Not Retiring From Acting Just Yet

Is Liam Neeson retiring from acting? Fans of the charismatic star have been buzzing with curiosity after recent comments sparked rumors of his potential departure from the industry. Neeson, known for his powerful performances in both dramatic and action-packed roles, has enjoyed a long and illustrious career. Even at age 72, the actor continues to win hearts with his versatility and dedication to projects. But is he ready to say goodbye to the big screen?

Here are the details.

Is Liam Neeson retiring from acting?

No, Neeson hasn’t confirmed his retirement from acting at the time of writing.

In an interview with People, Neeson talked about his retirement, while discussing doing physical stunts in movies. He acknowledged the reality of aging, especially when it comes to performing his own stunts, a hallmark of his roles in films like Taken. He specifically likes performing his own stunts and doesn’t want to trouble Mark Vanselow (work collaborator) for that.

He said “I’m 72 — it has to stop at some stage. You can’t fool audiences. I don’t want Mark to be fighting my fight scenes for me.” He is contemplating his decision of departing from acting by 2025’s end. “Maybe the end of next year. I think that’s it,” he adds.

While he’s hinted at possibly stepping away by the end of 2025, nothing is set in stone. In fact, Neeson is far from slowing down. Currently, Neeson is slated to star in at least four to five movies, which are in the filming or post-production stages. The Naked Gun directed by Akiva Schaffer will be hitting theatres in August 2025. Additionally, Thug, Cold Storage, Absolution, and Hotel Tehran are also on Neeson’s upcoming movie list. Besides, a sequel to 2021’s The Ice Road is also on his busy slate.

In the late 1970s, when Neeson started his career, he majorly contributed to noted drama projects including Husbands and Wives and The Dead Pool. However, it was Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List that served as a game-changer for his career. His portrayal of Oskar Schindler was loved worldwide and it earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
