What We Do in the Shadows is here with its sixth and final season. The fantasy comedy series marks the return of the eccentric vampire trio, Nandor, Nadja, and Colin. With the first three episodes out, fans are buzzing with curiosity regarding an important character — Guillermo de la Cruz played by Harvey Guillén. So, what happened to Guillermo in What We Do in the Shadows Season 6?
Here is everything you need to know about the character’s current fate in the series.
Does Guillermo become a Vampire in What We Do in the Shadows Season 6?
No, Guillermo is not a vampire in What We Do in the Shadows Season 6.
Guillermo has featured on the show since its inception. The character is fascinated with vampires and aspires to become one as well. In his goal to become the blood-sucking creature, Guillermo is ready to face any challenges. While the first four seasons of the series showcased him in pursuit of this dream, the character finally finds a ray of hope in the subsequent chapter.
He requests Derek to bite him with hopes of becoming a vampire. However, his goal seems to remain unfulfilled and he kind of becomes a half-human and half-vampire. Eventually, the problem finds a solution in the last episode of Season 5. Laszlo Cravensworth realizes during his battle that Guillermo can complete his transformation by drinking human blood.
However, Guillermo’s mind changes when the group goes on a human hunt to drink their blood. The character, who was always obsessed with vampires, realizes that he cannot become a vampire as he is terrified by the idea of killing innocent people. As a result, Guillermo seeks Nandor’s help to reverse the process. However, he is shocked when Nandor asks him to attack Derek’s heart, thus, killing him. Guillermo is unable to do this but he is transformed back after Nandor kills Derek himself.
In Season 6, Guillermo is united with the trio and Laszlo, and is not the vampires’ familiar. But, a twist takes place in the third episode with the vampires falling victim to sleep hypnosis. While all the vampires manage to return to normal, Guillermo is still in a trance, still hypnotized. Now, it will be exciting to see what is in store for the character’s fate with just eight episodes left.
