What Did Christopher Reeve’s Son Say About the New Superman Movie?

Will Reeve, the son of Superman actor Christopher Reeve, says fans need to “pump the breaks” regarding his involvement in the upcoming DCU movie.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Will Reeve, who is an ABC News correspondent, will have a cameo in James Gunn’s forthcoming Superman movie. Will Reeve’s father Christopher, who passed away in 2004, previously played the Man of Steel in 1978’s Superman, 1980’s Superman II (and, naturally, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut as well), 1983’s Superman III, and 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Will Reeve warned fans that his role in Superman isn’t a large one as, despite having already filmed his cameo, he has no idea what the movie is about at this point in time.

Christopher Reeve’s son says fans should ‘pump the breaks’

“We’ve got to pump the brakes on my involvement,” he said. “I have no insight into the plot, and I have no idea what the movie is about other than Superman.”

Will Reeve went on to call his father the “definitive Superman” before discussing Super/Man, a new documentary releasing this week about the life of Christopher Reeve.

“To have [Super/Man] and the relaunch of Superman coincide with one another is kismet. We didn’t necessarily calculate that; it just worked out conveniently,” he said.

Reeve added about Super/Man, “The response overall has been gratifying and fulfilling and meaningful on multiple levels. It’s a treat as the son of Christopher and Dana Reeve, just from a child’s perspective, it is meaningful to have people love my parents and to get the opportunity to talk about my parents with the world. I’m so proud to be their son. I’m so proud to be a part of this family.”

Gunn’s Superman will see David Corenswet play the Clark Kent role. The cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, and Neva Howell as Martha Kent, among others.

Superman releases in United States theaters on July 11, 2025.
