Superman & Lois: How Will Superman Be Resurrected? Serum Theory Explained

Superman & Lois Season 4 has fans buzzing about how Superman will be resurrected after his shocking death at the hands of Doomsday. With Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman gone, viewers are left wondering if there’s any hope for his return. General Sam Lane seems to have a risky plan, and fans want to know how this could bring the Man of Steel back to life.

Here is everything you need to know about General Sam Lane’s plan to resurrect Superman.

What is General Lane’s plan to resurrect Superman in Superman & Lois Season 4?

Following Superman’s death, General Sam Lane acquires a special serum, made from Superman’s blood. This is the same serum used in Bizarro’s resurrection in the last season. This was after the question of getting Superman a heart came up since Kryptonian hearts function much differently compared to that of regular humans. Clark lost his heart following his death after Doomsday ripped it out of him on Lex Luthor’s orders.

Sometime after, Sam Lane is shot by one of Lex Luthor‘s goons and he starts to bleed. He then confronts Doomsday and allows himself to get killed by the monster.

However, in Superman & Lois Season 4 Episode 3 it is eventually revealed that shortly before his death, Sam injected himself with the special serum, to try and make himself a suitable heart donor for Superman. Starlight and Steel revealed that before his death, Lane had been on the hunt for other candidates he could inject the serum. However, Lane decided to make himself the heart donor, after realizing Lex Luthor would not stop going after other people if Sam did not give up Lois’ location.

Sam Lane also made a recording before his demise, to explain his plan to Lois. Here, he expressed his wishes to continue protecting his daughter, and that if his heart transplant was successful, Lois would continue receiving his protection via Superman, who would have Lane’s heart.

Lane’s body was later shown, undergoing the heart transplant process via Kryptonian technology. A hologram of Superman’s mother, witnessing the process, expressed her uncertainty about its success, noting it would take a great amount of time, were it to be successful.
