Magpie dies after Sofia Falcone brutally attacks her at the Arkham cafeteria. Botha, herself confirmed that Magpie’s death happened instead of being a scenario in Sofia’s imagination in a recent Screenrant interview, saying “Sofia really did murder Magpie.” However, she did address Magpie’s resurrection in the comics following the Blackest Night event and that there was a part of her that was “not quite ready” to part ways with the role.
In the interview, Botha also shared her ideas for how to further explore Magpie’s story, in the event it is revealed she did not actually die. One of these is her unique relationship with Batman in the comics, where she becomes obsessed with him after he shows her kindness. Here, she also likened Magpie’s character to her own upbringing.
