Charlie Puth’s AI Comment on Taylor Swift Explained

Charlie Puth recently made some comments about Taylor Swift‘s shoutout of him in the title track of her latest album The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD). Because of this fans are eager to learn what the We Don’t Talk Anymore singer said about the music superstar. So what did Puth say about the TTPD singer? Did he compliment her songwriting? Did he address an upcoming collaboration?

Here is everything you need to know on the hot topic.

What did Charlie Puth say about Taylor Swift?

Charlie Puth said he initially believed that Taylor Swift’s shoutout of him in the title track of her latest album The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) was AI. “It’s quite the compliment, by the way. I thought it was AI because AI just seems to be everywhere,” Puth recalled in a recent interview with Sirius XM.

In the title track of TTPD, Swift included a lyric that explicitly mentioned Puth. The lyric was “We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist.”

Puth later mentioned that after hearing a clip of his mention, he acknowledged that it couldn’t have been AI. “That’s way to smart for AI, that’s way too clever — the way that it rhymed,” he opined.

In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Puth shared how he reacted when he first heard his name-drop in the title track of The Tortured Poets Department following its official release. “My first thought was like, ‘Wow. She said my name.’ She kind of said it like P-O-O-T-H, And I just cried, dude.”

Earlier this year, Charlie Puth credited Taylor Swift via Instagram for inspiring him to share his new song Hero with the public, after he had been working on it for some time.

Taylor Swift is expected to resume the final leg of her Eras Tour later this month starting with shows in three US cities – Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis before moving to Toronto and Vancouver in Canada between November and December 2024.
