Parton and Cyrus’ friendship has attracted the admiration of many music enthusiasts. Being the godmother of Miley Cyrus singer, Parton has regularly spoken about how she feels proud of Cyrus’ achievements in the music industry.
Here is all the information about a recent revelation regarding Parton and Cyrus’ relationship.
Are Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus related?
Yes, Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus are blood-related.
This epic revelation was made in a recent interview with Parton by Access Hollywood. Parton was present for the conversation to promote the cookbook, Good Lookin’ Cookin which she co-authored with her sister. In one segment of the interview, Ancestry, which is an online family history resource as per the website, asserted in a recent report, ”The two Jolene singers share a common ancestor from Tennessee—Dolly’s 6th great-grandfather and Miley’s 7th great-grandfather—making them seventh cousins, once removed.”
Also providing information about the ancestor, the report stated, ”John Brickey was born in 1740 in Virginia. He later moved to Blount County, Tennessee with his wife and children and remained there until he died in 1806. The Brickey family originated from France and the progenitor of the family came to the United States in the late 1600s.”
Reacting to this information, Dolly Parton was filled with joy and said, ”Is that true? That’s amazing! Well, we’re so close, Miley and I. I would’ve thought we would’ve been at least third cousins, 10 times removed.” She further added, ”I’m sure she’ll get a kick out of that, but it doesn’t surprise me because she does feel like family.”
Parton is a close friend of Miley Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and became her godmother when he insisted the singer accept the title. Dolly Parton revealed in a chat with Good Morning America in 2009, ”I’m her honorary godmother. I’ve known her since she was a baby. I’m so proud of her, love her. And she’s just like one of my own.”
