What Happened to Ric Flair & Wendy Barlow? Split/Divorce Explained

Have wrestling legend Ric Flair, also known as the “Nature Boy,” and his wife, Wendy Barlow, split from their marriage? With his signature strut, “WOOOOO!” yell, and the moniker, Flair became one of the most iconic figures in the sport’s history. Nonetheless, his personal life, especially his relationships, has often been as dramatic as his in-ring persona. Barlow is one of the significant women in his life. So, why are they breaking up?

Here’s everything you need to know about Ric Flair and Wendy Barlow’s divorce.

Ric Flair and Wendy Barlow split after six years of marriage

Ric Flair has announced that he and his wife, Wendy Barlow, are ending their marriage. The couple revealed the news in a social media post on Monday. Notably, they were together for 13 years and married for 6.

“Wendy And I Enjoyed 13 Great Years. As With Every Couple, We Have Experienced Our Ups And Downs. I Think It’s Important For Everyone To Know Right Now That We Have Decided To Part Ways Respectfully,” the 75-year-old WWE legend wrote in an Instagram and X statement on Monday, September 23.

He concluded by writing, “I’ll Never Ever Be Able To Thank Her Enough For Standing By My Side Through My Terrible Health Crisis In 2017. She Never Left My Side! And For That I Will Always Be Grateful! We Both Are Working On Different Projects At The Current Time & It Becomes Difficult With My Schedule & Her Schedule To Make This Work. I Wish Her The Best Of Luck With Her Projects, And I Know That She Supports Mine!”

Before his marriage to Barlow in 2018, Flair, now 75, was married four times. His previous marriages were to Leslie Goodman (1971-1983), Elizabeth Harell (1983-2006), Tiffany VanDemark (2006-2009), and Jackie Beems (2009-2014).

With Goodman, Flair has a son, David, and a daughter, Megan. His marriage to Harell resulted in a daughter, Charlotte, and a son, Reid, who tragically passed away in 2013.

In late January 2022, Flair and Barlow announced their separation.

“After taking some time apart, Wendy and I have decided to go our separate ways. Please respect our privacy & our families during this time! I will love & cherish all of our memories together forever, and I will forever be thankful for all she has done to make my life better!” the former WWE star wrote on Instagram.

They subsequently clarified to PEOPLE that they had held a wedding ceremony in Florida in September 2018 but were never legally married.
