No, Agatha All Along Isn’t a Prequel: Here’s How It Fits Into the MCU Timeline

The much anticipated MCU sensation Agatha All Along has finally arrived, and fans have begun wondering if it’s a prequel to WandaVision. Since the Disney Plus miniseries bears the name of the main antagonist of WandaVision, fans are naturally curious to know if it is a sequel to the former one. Set three years after WandaVision, fans are wondering what is Agatha All Along’s timeline and history.

Here’s everything we know about Agatha All Along, and how it ties to the MCU.

Is Marvel’s Agatha All Along a prequel or a sequel?

While technically a sequel to both WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2, Agatha Harkness’s new series is most likely to delve into her past.

Furthermore, the series provides insights into her long history within the MCU. We can expect flashbacks or revelations about her relationship with Rio and other significant figures as she embarks on her journey along the Witches’ Road.

Agatha All Along centers on Agatha Harkness, whom we already know as the evil witch from WandaVision. In WandaVision, Harkness posed as the nosy neighbor of Wanda, taking the alias of Agnes. She was determined to torment Wanda and slowly drain away her powers to grow her own. However, by the end of the series, Wanda finally gets the best of her and casts a very powerful spell on Agatha. This traps her in the persona of Agnes and blocks her from accessing her powers.

At the end of WandaVision, fans were left questioning the exact nature of Agatha’s curse and the timeline. Agatha All Along clears this up by introducing Agatha as a detective, Agnes O’Connor, in a surreal crime-noir series. Wanda’s death, as seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), lifts the curse, restoring Agatha’s true identity and setting the stage for the show’s narrative which focuses on her history. Structured in an episodic format, Agatha All Along will follow Harkness in her series of adventures. She forms a new coven of witches with whom she seeks to face the trials of the Witches’ Road. With the groundbreaking success of WandaVision, the sequel certainly has big shoes to fill. Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness. Other cast members include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Debra Jo Rupp, Sasheer Zamata, Patti LuPone, and more.
