Why Hasn’t Chappell Roan Endorsed Kamala Harris or Donald Trump?

With the 2024 US Presidential Elections fast approaching, citizens are starting to take sides according to their preferences. As such, multiple celebrities have publically voiced their support for their favored candidate. Several high-profile names in the music industry, including Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, have already backed Kamala Harris for the job. However, pop sensation Chappell Roan seems to have chosen a different path regarding presidential endorsements. But what did the American singer and songwriter say about the upcoming elections?

Here are all the details regarding Chappell Roan’s publicized hesitance to participate in presidential endorsements.

What did Chappell Roan say about presidential endorsements?

As the Pink Pony Club singer herself has stated, she will not support any candidate in the much-discussed elections in November 2024.

In a recent discussion with The Guardian, Chappell Roan revealed that she will not indulge in presidential endorsements. She said, “I have so many issues with our government in every way.” She added, “There are so many things that I would want to change. So I don’t feel pressured to endorse someone. There’s problems on both sides. I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote—vote small, vote for what’s going on in your city.”

This revelation surprises many as Kamala Harris’ campaign has already leveraged Chappell Roan’s influence to its cause. Harris’ team famously used the singer’s 2023 song, Femininomenon, as part of their promotions just days after she replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate. Moreover, the campaign also issued a series of camouflage caps inspired by Roan’s Midwest Princess merchandise after the announcement of Tim Walz as Harris’ running mate.

Nevertheless, Chappell Roan’s decision is backed by her previous statements, in which she openly criticized Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ government. She has been highly vocal in discrediting the nation’s policies regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict. Additionally, Roan declined to perform at the White House’s Pride festivities, stating that she’ll oblige after the government provides “liberty, justice, and freedom for all.” (via Vulture)

Despite her stance against presidential endorsements, Chappell Roan acknowledged that Harris’ involvement in the elections is a historical development.
