So who are Only Murders in the Building Season 4’s Eva Longoria and Eugene Levy playing? Here is your answer.
Only Murders in the Building’s Eva Longoria and Eugene Levy cameos explained
Eva Longoria and Eugene Levy play fictionalized versions of Selena Gomez’s Mabel and Steve Martin’s Charles, respectively.
Longoria and Levy’s characters play a significant role in the recently released third episode of Only Murders in the Building Season 4. Here, they accompany the real-life Mabel, Charles, Oliver, and Zach Galifianakis‘ fictionalized Oliver on their investigation of Sazz Pataki’s murder. Longoria’s Mabel, Levy’s Charles, and Galifianakis’s Oliver accompany their real-life counterparts on account of “character study” in preparation for the upcoming film adaptation of Only Murders in the Building podcast.
When the trio split up to investigate, Mabel and Eva Longoria, who have a seemingly rocky relationship for much of the episode, head to Rudy Thurber’s apartment to interrogate him and learn if the clue they found in Dudenoff’s apartment related to Sazz Pataki’s murder was tinsel. Unfortunately, Mabel gets irritated with Eva when she heads to Rudy’s apartment before her. This irritation grows when Eva rushes to solve the case. Not helping matters is Eva exaggerating Mabel’s personality by reducing her to an early-day drinker.
However, Mabel eventually warms up to Eva Longoria when she sees how determined the latter is to crack the case.
Meanwhile, Charles and Eugene Levy, the latter of whom has clear admiration for the former, join forces to investigate West Tower’s Vince Fisher. The duo initially conclude Vince has a grudge against Charles. They also see Vince wear an eye patch, making them believe he accidentally killed Sazz instead of Charles, who believed he was the real target.
Charles and Eugene then give Vince fake eye drops to eliminate his conjunctivitis. The situation escalates when Vince gets frustrated and breaks Eugene’s nose. Eventually, Charles and Vince realize they made erroneous assumptions about each other and clear the misunderstanding between them, becoming friends.
