Beetlejuice 2 Deaths: Who Dies in the Sequel?

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice effortlessly shifts between horror and comedic elements to tell a convincing story. It invites the audience once more to Winter River, Connecticut, where unusual and supernatural things are pretty common. As people die and supernatural entities cease to exist often in this franchise, people want to know about the deaths in Beetlejuice 2.

Here is everything you need to know about what happens to Betelgeuse and others in the sequel.

Does Betelgeuse die in Beetlejuice 2?

Betelgeuse (aka Beetlejuice), played by Michael Keaton, is a ghost/demon from Neitherworld, so he can’t technically die. However, the ending partly implies that he is destroyed. Astrid (Jenna Ortega) demonstrates that Betergeuse’s contract with Lydia is in violation of what is mentioned in the Handbook for the Recently Deceased, and Lydia chants his name three times. This results in Betelgeuse popping like a balloon. But, toward the end of the movie, Lydia has a vivid nightmare in which she once again sees the trickster entity, which indicates that he might be still out there somewhere, and Lydia has only managed to banish him.

There are several characters in the movie who die in unexpected, hilarious, and morbid manners. Some supernatural entities suffer the fate that seems equally permanent.

Charles and Delia

Charles, Lydia’s father from the first movie, dies at the start of this one, prompting the rest of the Deetz family to return to Winter River. His wife and Lydia’s stepmother, Delia (Catherine O’Hara), dies of snakebites later in the movie. Eventually, she and Charles reunite in the Afterlife and take the Soul Train together.

Jeremy

Jeremy (Arthur Conti) died 23 years before the events of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. It is revealed that he murdered his parents before the police officers accidentally killed him. In the movie, Betelgeuse sends him to a hell-like realm.

Rory

Rory (Justin Theroux) is Lydia’s boyfriend in the movie. But, he reveals that he was exploiting her just as they are about to get married. He is devoured by a sandworm that Astrid summons.

Delores

Delores (Monica Bellucci) is Betelgeuse’s former wife from the time of the Black Plague era. She has since become a soul-sucking entity searching for her former husband. Like Rory, she also gets swallowed by the sandworm.

Richard

Richard (Santiago Cabrera) is Lydia’s former husband and Astrid’s father. He disappeared in South America, and it is later revealed that he was eaten by piranhas. He helps Lydia save Astrid from Jeremy and then assists them in their journey back to the mortal world.
