Fans are curious about the alleged feud involving Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj. This was after both music stars initiated a supposed feud earlier this year via their respective diss tracks, Hiss and Big Foot. Upon analyzing the lyrics of each of their tracks, a significant portion of fans were convinced they were seemingly trash talks by both singers, hurled at each other. Now, the curiosity has only further grown after Stallion herself addressed the feud in a recent interview.
So what’s all the drama between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj? Is there a feud between them? Here is everything you need to know.
Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj feud explained
The Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion feud came to a head on January 29, 2024, when Stallion launched “Hiss” and Minaj launched “Big Foot.” Both had worked together in 2019 on the song “Hot Girl Summer.” However, things seemingly went south between the two, which fans believed was due to Stallion’s collaborations with Minaj’s rival, Cardi B.
The lyrics of Megan Thee Stallion’s Hiss conveyed information about Stallion’s public life. However, there was one line in the lyrics that appeared to catch Minaj’s attention:
“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law.”
The defining keyword here is “Megan’s Law.” It is a federal law that necessitates law enforcement having to make information about registered sex offenders available. When listeners heard this, they connected it with the knowledge of Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty being a registered sex offender.
Naturally, Minaj, who was and has been defensive of her husband over the years, lashed out at Megan Thee Stallion on Instagram live, following the launch of her album The Breakfast Club. She subsequently released “Big Foot,” where she criticized Megan Thee Stallion for her Grammy wins and lack of a musical flow.
Moreover, Minaj even referenced Megan’s late mother, who died in 2019, in a violently mocking tone. Notably, she has named dropped Megan at least three times in Big Foot’s lyrics. Minaj’s scathing lyrics directed against the latter go like this:
“They got you all them Grammys, but your flow’s still a no
What a fiasco, Lupe
Future made you pay (Haha)”
“‘Cause she was lyin’ on your dead mama (Ooh), on-on your dead mama (Ah-ah-ah-ah)
Lyin’ on your dead mama, on-on your dead mama
Lyin’ on your dead mama, lyin’ on your dead mama
Lyin’ on your, lyin’, lyin’, lyin’ on your dead mama (Brr, ooh)”
Despite this, Megan Thee Stallion recently claimed in a Billboard interview that she did not know the root cause of their feud. “I still to this day don’t know what the problem is,” she said. Megan also mentioned that there would be no reconciliation between her and Minaj. This is because she had no idea what needed to be reconciled in the first place.
