Fans are curious to know whether Cardi B recently threw shade at Nicki Minaj via a recent maternity photo posted by the former on social media. This was after many analyzed the “WAP” singer’s recent online photo and spotted the word “p***phile” written over the word “Homesick” in the background. As many know, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, is a registered sex offender. Petty had first been convicted of first-degree attempted rape back in 1995. Moreover, Cardi B and Minaj have publicly feuded before.

So, did Cardi B throw shade at Nicki Minaj? Know all about the recent controversy.

Did Cardi B shade Nicki Minaj in her maternity photo?

Cardi B denied shading Nicki Minaj in her maternity photo.

On Monday, Cardi B posted on Instagram a maternity photo of herself showing her baby bump. The rapper-singer had been clad in biker-style clothing. In the photo she expressed her excitement and anticipation over giving birth to her newest child. “I wanna meet my little boo boo soo bad already,” she captioned the photo.

After Cardi B posted the photo online. Multiple fans said the word “P***phile” was written in the background. Many also took to X (formerly Twitter) and said the singer was shading Minaj. This is because Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, is a registered sex offender.

However, Cardi B quickly caught wind of fans’ speculations and set the record straight shortly after. In a post on X, she explained that she and the people she worked with to take her latest photo “picked a random street” as they were being chased by paparazzi. The hip hop star further added that the latest photo she took was supposed to be her “original first picture” and that they “had to to edit the photos in minutes because the shoot got leaked.”

The entertainer also mentioned that they didn’t “have time to go over every detail because people were busy trying to expose my pregnancy as “aha” moment.” She concluded by saying that she did not use her maternity shoot “to be funny.”

Cardi B then shared a follow-up post in which she again confirmed the last-minute edits and shot down talk of her squabble with Minaj through the photo. “if I wanted to be petty I would’ve posted a lot of memes last week,” she wrote.
