The internet has been abuzz with the recent release of a purported Shang-Chi 2 trailer. Despite the unconfirmed authenticity, the viral clip has ignited a wave of excitement among fans, sparking intense speculation about the film’s plot and characters. One of the most discussed theories revolves around a potential showdown, Shang-Chi vs. Iron Fist. The prospect of these martial arts masters facing off has fans eagerly anticipating the film’s release.
Here’s all you want to know about the authenticity of the trailer of Shang-Chi 2.
Is the Shang-Chi 2: Wreckage of Time trailer real or fake?
The trailer of Shang-Chi 2 that is circulating online is fake.
The trailer is far from a release as the movie will begin its filming in 2025. It has been released by OneTake, a leading YouTube channel popular for its concept trailers. The fake trailer was released a month back and has garnered 884k views.
There is no confirmation if the sequel will have this title. But the idea of Iron Fist vs Shang-Chi being its plot is an idea suggested by the fans and there is no truth to it.
Will Iron Fist appear in Shang-Chi 2?
Although not confirmed, rumor mills suggest that Iron Fist will make an appearance in Shang Chi 2.
According to CBR, Shang-Chi 2 is set to commence filming in 2025. Destin Daniel Cretton, the director and writer of the first film, will reprise his role for the sequel. While plot details remain scarce, the report revealed that the film will incorporate time travel and feature Iron Fist. However, fans should not anticipate Finn Jones’ return as the superhero.
It further stated that the Iron Fist appearing in Shang-Chi 2 will be the same one introduced in the upcoming animated series, Eyes of Wakanda. Although the Iron Fist in Eyes of Wakanda could potentially be Finn Jones’ Danny Rand, until the superhero’s identity is confirmed, fans should not assume that the Netflix/Marvel era character is definitively back in the MCU.
Earlier, talking to a leading daily, The Nerd Shepherd, Finn Jones expressed his desire to reprise his role as Iron Fist. He said, “Now, my intention – I would like to see the character continue. I would like to continue playing that character,” Jones said. “I think there’s still a lot of room for growth and professionally I’m at a point where I would like to continue to grow with Iron Fist.” (via Cosmicbook)
He also expressed his desire to reunite with Mike Colter in a “Heroes for Hire” series. He praised their on-screen chemistry and potential for compelling storylines. Jones suggested that such a series would be an ideal platform to explore the characters’ dynamics.
