Pachinko season 2 release date and cast details have been revealed. Starring Lee Min-Ho and Kim Min-Ha, the second installment of the popular franchise will welcome new faces and an interesting plot. It will premiere worldwide on Apple TV Plus.
The synopsis of season 2 reads, “Begins in Osaka in 1945 when World War II broke out, and tells the story of Sun Ja’s struggles to protect her family, even making dangerous choices. The stories of Solomon, who must start anew with nothing in 1989 Tokyo, and the elderly Sun Ja who worries about her grandson also intersect.”
Pachinko is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Min Jin-Lee. As for the OST of the series, BLACKPINK band member Rose will sing “Viva La Vida.” The track is an unreleased cover, for which the K-pop idol has collaborated with Coldplay.

Pachinko season 2 premieres on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. KST (12.00 a.m. ET) on Apple TV Plus. It will consist of eight episodes, airing every Friday. The following is the episode schedule in chronological order:

Pachinko Season 2: Cast & plot
The latest season of Pachinko will include new and old faces, thus raising anticipation among the viewers regarding the plot. The main cast features Kim Min-Ha, Lee Min-Ho, Jin Ha, and Youn Yuh-Jung.
Kim Min-Ha plays Kim Sun-Ja/Baek Sun-Ja, a teenager in the family of Korean immigrants migrating from Japan-occupied Korea to Osaka (a Korean town). Altogether, the upcoming season, fans will follow her teenage and old-age storylines. After two decades, she will reunite with Lee Min-Ho’s Han-Su, another lead cast member of the franchise.
Previously, Min-Ha appeared in prominent dramas like Partners for Justice, School 2017, and Not Alright, But It’s Alright. Also, she has been a part of several films, such as The Call, Killer Swell: Our Space, and After Spring.
Meanwhile, Lee Min-Ho plays Ko Han-Su, who will return to Sun-Ja’s life after 14 years and rekindle their romance. He will likely take responsibility for his son in secret. Min-Ho is one of the most popular South Korean actors in the entertainment industry.
Min-Ho is well-known for his roles in K-dramas like The Heirs, Boys Over Flowers, The King: Eternal Monarch, The Legend of the Blue Sea, and Mackerel Run. Some of his famous films include Bounty Hunters, Gangnam 1970, and Public Enemy Returns.
Veteran actress Youn Yuh-Jung essays the role of Sun-Ja’s older version. She is the grandmother of Jin Ha. The senior cast member is an award-winning actress who bagged an Oscar in 2021 for her role in Minari. As a matter of fact, she created history by becoming the first Korean actor to win three prestigious awards. This includes the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award.
Further, Jin Ha plays Sun-Ja’s grandson and Mozasu’s son, Baek Solomon. The South Korean-born American actor has done a couple of TV series, including Love Life and Devs.
Besides the aforementioned cast, Pachinko season 2 also stars Jung Eun-Chae, Anna Sawai, Han Joon-Woo, Park So-Hee, Steve Noh, Kim Sung-Gyu, and Kwon Eun-Sung. Moreover, the highly-anticipated series will be released in three languages— Korean, Japanese, and English.
Screenwriter Soo Hugh is the creator and writer of the drama. Additionally, Leanne Welham, Arvin Chen, and Lee Sang-Il are the co-directors.
