The film begins in 1994, where social worker Janet Leach, an appropriate adult who accompanies children during police interrogations. She attends the interview of a ruthless serial killer Fred West, who confesses to killing his own daughter, Heather. Fred further reveals to Janet that there were more victims but she is not allowed to engage in conversations. Soon, the police come across the remains of numerous female dead bodies. Fred reveals that one of them is Shirley Robinson, who was carrying his child. Janet grows disturbed due to his ugly revelations but tries to stay true to her position.
