Basketball veteran Steph Curry’s win at the 2024 Paris Olympics seems to have been followed by a controversy involving his wife, Ayesha Curry. The 36-year-old sporting legend was instrumental in guiding the USA team to a record-breaking gold medal victory at the event. However, shortly after their triumph, Curry’s spouse was drawn into an ugly confrontation with the Paris police. But what actually happened between Ayesha Curry and the French authorities?

Here are all the available details regarding the recent controversy involving Steph Curry’s wife.

Steph Curry’s wife Ayesha confrontation with Paris police explained

Ayesha Curry and her family were reportedly stopped by the Paris police from returning to their vehicle after the basketball event. This interaction ultimately resulted in a drawn-out conflict, causing Mrs. Curry to become visibly upset.

The video of the said altercation has since been posted online by multiple sources, including The Hollywood Fix. In the snippet, Steph Curry’s wife can be seen wiping her tears away while holding their newborn son, Caius. Ayesha was also accompanied by her mother-in-law, her six-year-old son Canon, and her husband’s Golden State teammate, Draymond Green.

While walking back to their car, the group was intercepted by the Paris officials, as per US Weekly. The authorities then informed them of a police blockade in the area that was organized to ensure the security of President Emmanuel Macron. Due to the barricade, Ayesha and the others were prohibited from using the street and accessing their vehicle.

During this altercation, one of the officers allegedly touched baby Caius on the head, instigating an outburst from the Currys. Ayesha Curry’s mother-in-law led most of the vocal protests, while a local bystander chimed in to act as a translator. According to The Blast, Sonya Curry was heard shouting at the officials for their physical interaction. “You will not sleep well,” she said. “Don’t touch the baby.”

Draymond Green also supported the cause by questioning the police regarding their actions. The seasoned NBA player was heard asking, “So even after him hitting the baby in the head, there’s still nothing y’all can do to get them out of here?” Despite their protests, Ayesha Curry and and her accompaniers were not allowed to proceed to their car.

Steph Curry and his wife are yet to issue a public comment regarding the controversy.
