Amazon Prime Video’s new TV and movie releases on its schedule for August 12-18, 2024, include the movies JACKPOT! and Night Swim.
On August 13, Amazon Prime Video subscribers can check out Night Swim. This horror movie, written and directed by Bryce McGuire, follows Ray Waller, a former baseball player forced to retire early due to a degenerative illness. Waller, his wife Eve, and their two children move into a new home with a backyard swimming pool. Waller hopes the pool will offer physical therapy and fun for his children. However, the Waller family soon discovers a dark secret behind the pool and their new home.
Then, on August 15, JACKPOT! drops on Amazon Prime Video. This action-comedy film stars Awkwafina and John Cena. Set in the near future, it features a “Grand Lottery” with a multi-billion dollar jackpot, but with a catch: one must kill the winner before sunset to claim the prize. The story follows Katie Kim, who finds herself with a winning ticket and must team up with lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy, who will escort her to sundown in exchange for a cut of the prize.
Also releasing on Amazon Prime Video this week as part of the schedule is Paddington.
Paddington is a live-action/animation hybrid movie about a Peruvian bear who ends up in the streets of London. Seeking a new home, Paddington meets and befriends the compassionate Brown family.
