With Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 7 recently concluding its run, fans have been wondering if the comedy-drama has been canceled or renewed for Season 8. The series, throughout its course, has amassed a dedicated fanbase due to its engaging content. But, does Perry’s creation have a future?
Here are all the updates regarding the fate of the KJ Smith-led TV show.
Is Sistas canceled or renewed for Season 8?
To the delight of Sistas fans, the series has avoided getting canceled and is officially getting an eighth season.
The rumors regarding its renewal first began to take shape in April 2024 following the release of a Deadline report. As per their statement, Tyler Perry was reported to have extended his ongoing arrangement with Paramount’s BET Media. The deal enabled Perry to create a hoard of fresh entries for existing and new shows on BET and BET Plus. In the agreed extension, his long-running Sistas series was also renewed for an eighth installment instead of getting canceled.
A month later, Project Casting released a casting call to recruit extras for the new season. Consequently, it was established that filming for Sistas season 8 had already begun, with Perry reoccupying the creator’s chair.
Nevertheless, it is currently unknown when the upcoming edition of the show will premiere. So far, Tyler Perry has released seven seasons of Sistas while avoiding the threat of getting canceled in a span of five years. Several chapters have come out with a break of six months, while others have only taken a gap of a few weeks to air. As a result, the eighth season could see the light of day in the coming weeks, depending on its filming schedule. But, if that wait extends, the new edition could be released as late as February 2025, per The Direct.
At the time of writing, the exact release date of Sistas Season 8 remains unknown.
