The K-drama is directed by renowned screenwriter and director Park Hoon-Jung, who is best known for directing the 2013 film New World. As such, fans are eager to see how the plot of The Tyrant unfolds. Recently, Disney Plus revealed the release date, plot, and full cast of the upcoming series, much to the fans’ excitement.
The Tyrant K-drama: When is the release date on Disney Plus?
Kim Seon-Ho’s much-anticipated K-drama series The Tyrant will premiere on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, on the global streaming platform Disney Plus.
It marks the actor’s comeback to the K-drama world after a three-year hiatus. Kim Seon-Ho has previously led the beloved Korean drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, which earned him global recognition. The actor has also acted in other noteworthy K-dramas such as Start-Up, Welcome to Waikiki 2, 100 Days My Prince, and more. He also played a central part in the critically acclaimed 2023 Korean movie The Childe.
In The Tyrant, he will portray one of the main characters, Choi Gook-Jang, aka Director Choi. Thus, fans are now eagerly waiting to see how his performance in the Disney Plus action-thriller series will turn out.
The Tyrant K-drama: Cast & plot
The Tyrant revolves around a highly risky secret initiative called “The Tyrant Project.” Taking place in Korea, the project aims to develop a bioweapon that can increase a human being’s abilities. As the story unfolds, the last sample of the project will go missing at the time of its handover. Thus, people from different parties will try to retrieve the last sample of the program.
Moreover, the plot will see the bureau director of a government agency, Choi Gook-Jang, secretly running a high-risk project. He will try to secure the bioweapon successfully. The K-drama will also focus on Paul, the agent of a foreign intelligence agency. He has the task of getting his hands on the bioweapon.
As mentioned above, Kim Seon-Ho will be playing one of the central roles, Choi Gook-Jang, aka Director Choi, in The Tyrant. The character is the South Korean national intelligence agency’s youngest director. He has been unofficially operating a secret venture called The Tyrant Project. Besides him, Cha Seung-Won will portray the role of Lim Sang in the series. The character is an ex-agent turned hitman who has been given the task of eliminating any person associated with The Tyrant Project.
Meanwhile, the main cast also includes Jo Yoon-Soo. Viewers will see her step into the shoes of Chae Ja-Kyung, a technician with a fierce personality who will try to steal The Tyrant Project’s last sample. In the K-drama, Kim Kang-Woo also plays the significant role of Paul, who tries to dispose of The Tyrant Project’s last sample.
