Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 Tentative OTT Release Date Revealed

Kamal Haasan’s latest action drama, Indian 2 (also marketed as Indian 2: Zero Tolerance), hit theaters on July 12. Directed by S. Shankar, the film is a sequel to the 1996 hit Indian. Almost a month after its release, sources have confirmed that it will soon be available on digital platforms.

Upon its theatrical release, Indian 2 received mixed reviews from audiences and critics, particularly about the first half. In response, the filmmakers decided to trim 20 minutes from the original runtime. Initially, the movie had a runtime of three hours and four minutes, but the edited version now runs for two hours and 40 minutes.

The sequel continues the story of Senapathy, played by Kamal Haasan, as he returns to India to combat corruption. The plot centers around a group of friends who start a social media campaign to expose corrupt politicians and call upon Senapathy to bring about change in the country.

The cast features Kamal Haasan reprising his iconic role after more than two decades. Additionally, the action-thriller stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, S. J. Suryah, Vivek, and others as supporting characters.

Indian 2 will soon release on Netflix

Earlier, it was reported that Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for Indian 2, while Tamil channel Kalaignar TV has secured the satellite rights. Adding to the anticipation, a recent poster shared on social media hinted at the film’s OTT debut. The image suggested that Indian 2 is expected to premiere on August 9 on Netflix.

Typically, films are released on OTT platforms 45-60 days after their theatrical release, but due to the negative reviews in theaters, the makers appear to have expedited its digital release. If these reports are accurate, audiences can expect the digital premiere at the stroke of midnight on August 8.

As of now, the makers have not officially confirmed the OTT release date for Indian 2. It remains to be seen when they will make an official announcement. Stay tuned for more updates!
