The View: Is Whoopi Goldberg Leaving the Chat Show Permanently?

Rumors about Whoopi Goldberg potentially leaving The View have been circulating for a while, sparking considerable interest among fans and media alike. As speculation grows, many are eager to find out if Goldberg is truly considering leaving the daytime talk show where she has been a prominent co-host since 2007.

So, is Whoopi Goldberg leaving The View after Season 27? Here’s everything you need to know.

Is Whoopi Goldberg leaving The View after Season 27?

Earlier this year, Whoopi Goldberg briefly left her seat during a morning episode of The View. However, that does not mean she is leaving the show and continues to remain a key part of its cast.

During an episode of The View, Goldberg unexpectedly left her seat to cut short an interview with comedian Jo Koy. Koy, who was on the show to promote his Netflix special Live from Brooklyn, was enthusiastically praising Goldberg for her impact on his career. As the show’s music began to play, signaling the end of the segment, Goldberg approached Koy and whispered “I have to go.”

Despite recent speculation, the iconic comedian is not leaving The View or facing dismissal from the show. Goldberg’s contract, which was extended in 2021, is set to keep her on the show through Season 28. As The View is currently in its 27th season, there has been no official statement from either Goldberg or the network indicating any imminent changes to her role.

Why Whoopi Goldberg keeps leaving The View hosts’ group chat?

On Monday’s episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg addressed her disinterest in participating in her co-hosts’ off-air conversations. She admitted to frequently exiting their group chats.

Co-host Sunny Hostin humorously pointed out that Joy Behar often adds Goldberg back into the chat, while Ana Navarro suggested that muting notifications might be a simpler solution. However, Goldberg dismissed this suggestion and expressed a clear preference for avoiding unnecessary group chat interactions. She said, “Silencing y’all does not mean being part of it. I don’t care. I don’t care what you’re upset about. It’s the weekend!” (via Vanity Fair).

Goldberg further explained that she only communicates when she has something important to share. “I don’t just be sending y’all stuff! I’m busy! I’m busy, you know,” she said. “When I talk about those hit and runs, what do you think I’m doing? I communicate when I have something to say. I don’t just be sending y’all stuff. I’m busy.”
