What is 50 First Dates about?
The film begins with the introduction of Henry Roth who is a marine veterinarian. He dates his tourists but without any serious commitments. One day, he encounters a woman named Lucy as his boat breaks down. He assumes she is a local so he avoids introducing himself to her. The following day he meets Lucy again and the two bond over breakfast. Lucy asks him to meet her again but she fails to recall their last meeting. The restaurant owner reveals to Henry about Lucy’s short-term memory loss caused by an accident. This does not stop Henry from meeting Lucy having developed genuine feelings for her.
