Back in 2023, various news outlets reported that with Yellowstone ending, Paramount had greenlit a modern-day spin-off, and McConaughey was in talks to star in it. According to reports, Paramount Network has not necessarily canceled 2024. The recently announced spin-off is a revamped version of 2024. It has a new tentative title, The Madison, and Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, and Patrick J. Adams are in negotiations to portray important characters in it.
TVLine reported that the spin-off will purportedly revolve around Stacy Clyburn and other members of her wealthy family from New York. After the sudden deaths of Stacy’s husband and brother-in-law, they decide to relocate to Montana.
If the reports stating that Yellowstone: 2024 has become The Madison are indeed true, it means that the plans to develop the former fell apart at some point. According to rumors, McConaughey was to work on that project alongside several actors from the mothership series, including Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Luke Grimes. But, in February 2024, Puck reported that while McConaughey was still the top choice to essay the role of the protagonist in the spin-off, his agent said the True Detective actor hadn’t committed to the project because he wanted to see a script first. The production for The Madison will reportedly begin this month, with the producers eyeing a 2025 release after Yellowstone completes its fifth and final run. The original series debuted on Paramount Network on June 20, 2018. Season 5 was split into two parts. The first part, comprising eight episodes, aired between November 13, 2022, and January 1, 2023. Part 2 will premiere on November 10, 2024.
