Chinese Drama Love’s Rebellion Episode 2 Recap & Spoilers

The ongoing Xianxia Chinese drama Love’s Rebellion, starring Zhang Linghe and Jing Tian, released its first set of episodes on July 31, 2024. As seen in the official trailer, it follows the story of Nan Yan (Jing Tian), who crosses paths with Ji Yang (Zhang Linghe), the immortal monarch, while looking for an herb. Episode two focuses on Ji Yang trying to solve the manual’s formation.

In this episode, Ji Yang/Shao Cang decides to stay with Nan Yan until he retrieves the Seven Sins manual. Nan Yan is surprised to see him being so obedient. In reality, Shao Cang finds her weird and wants to avoid troubles by not messing with her. Nan Yan, on the other hand, is busy making medicine for Shao Cang. She asks him to tell his name and also about his past. Shao Cang conceals his true identity and lies about his origins. He tells her that his name is Ji Yang, and he is from the Solar Sect, who came to the North to visit the valley of filth.

The manual then asks Ji Yang to wait till the next evening as it is the time when yin and yang alter their positions, and the human mind is in its weakest state. After Nan Yan leaves for the market, Ji Yang quietly follows her. Nan Yan and her mother seem to have a bad reputation around the town. Nan Yan is a single, independent woman who is criticized for being a poisoner. But she doesn’t let these criticisms get to her.

Meanwhile, followers of the Evil Path Sect, whom Nan Yan had defeated, follow her for vengeance. But before they can harm her, Ji Yang faces them and takes them down once again.

Did Zhang Linghe harm Jing Tian?

The next scene introduces viewers to Nan Yan’s mother, Nan Rao, who is a gambler. It is revealed that she has been suffering from a rare heart disease, and Nan Yan is testing medicines to cure her mother. When Ji Yang notices Nan Yan caring for her mother, his heart melts. Even earlier, at the market, Nan Yan cured a man’s bloating, even though he was badmouthing her.

The episode further shows Nan Yan’s bond with her mother as they lay side by side, reminiscing about old days. Nan Rao expresses her wish to see her daughter getting married one day.

Ji Yang finishes his preparation and patiently waits for the evening. Meanwhile, Nan Yan makes him work in her garden. He is even forced to mix manure with his bare hands on Nan Yan’s order. Furthermore, Nan Yan makes him consume disgusting medicines to cure his fatigue. Ji Yang gets shy when Nan Yan conducts a full-body checkup. But he endures everything just to get to the manual.

What happens in Love’s Rebellion episode 2’s ending?

Further into the episode, the leader of the Lunar Sect defends Nan Yan when other disciples turn against her. He even scolds his own daughter, who is arrogant and troublesome. He compares her with Nan Yan, saying both of them are left with only one parent, but unlike her, Nan Yan is doing everything in her power to save her mother.

As the evening falls, Ji Yang makes Nan Yan unconscious with his power and starts to summon the formation. Keeping her at the center, he slowly begins to extract the manual from her body. But Nan Yan appears to be suffering as she starts to vomit blood. Ji Yang worries that the formation will end up taking her life. Will he give up on his plan to save Nan Yan’s life or go on not caring for her? Viewers will have to wait and watch the next episode to find the answer.

Love’s Rebellion is available to stream throughout the week on iQIYI and MGTV.
