Continuing its Summer 2024 lineup, Crunchyroll will air two anime in August 2024. The web streaming platform is a hub for a variety of anime content across multiple genres.
As August begins, Crunchyroll will stream two anime, suiting slice-of-life fans and fans of the gothic fantasy genre. Whether you are a seasoned anime fan or someone who just got into it, both Delico’s Nursery and True Beauty will leave you anticipating more with their riveting stories.
Delico’s Nursery
The much-anticipated gothic-fantasy anime series Delico’s Nursery is coming to Crunchyroll on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Crunchyroll has not announced the airtime yet, but according to the anime’s official website, it will air every Wednesday at 12:30 a.m. JST. This translates to every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. PDT.
Delico’s Nursery features Masakazu Morita as Dali Delico, Katauyuki Konishi as Gerhard Fra, Hiro Shimono as Henrique Lorca, and Takuya Satō as Dino Classico. Additionally, the stellar cast includes Rina Hidala as Uru Delico, Konomi Kohara as Lafaelo Delico, and Ayasa Itō as Angelica Fra.
Hiroshi Nishikiori directs the anime series at J.C. Staff, while Kenichi Suemitsu writes the scripts and composes the series. Furthermore, Yōko Itō is the chief animation director and character designer, while Shunsuke Wada, famous for his work in Naruto, Demon Slayer, and My Hero Academia, is responsible for music composition.
The anime is based on Kenichi Suemitsu’s TRUMP 2009 stage play, which revolves around Dali E’rco. He is an aristocratic member of the Blood Alliance Parliament. Many claim he has a promising future, making him the most eligible member to be sent on a mission.
As such, the highest governing body, the Bloodsuckers, offers to send him on a mission. However, Dali refuses, frustrating his fellow council members. In a world where mortal vampires and humans coexist, a lingering threat by an antisocial organization called “Pendulum” looms over vampires. The story, therefore, delves into mysteries that embody vampires’ fates.
True Beauty by Studio N
Also known as ‘The Secret of Angel,’ True Beauty is an upcoming Korean anime series on Crunchyroll. Studio N and Cocktail Media are animating the series based on author and illustrator Yaongyi’s famous manhwa with the same name. The series will begin airing on Crunchyroll on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Crunchyroll has not yet announced the dub or sub-airtimes for the ONA.
The manhwa began serialization in Naver Webtoon from April 2, 2018, to June 28, 2023. Soon, the rom-com and slice-of-life manhwa’s English version received over 6 million subscribers by January 2022. Moreover, it was the third most viewed series on Webtoon in 2019.
The South Korean television industry adapted True Beauty into a Korean drama that aired on December 9, 2020. It primarily focused on the Webtoon’s high school story arc with various original scenes but gained widespread attention shortly.
During its panel at Anime NYC 2023, Crunchyroll announced it had licensed the upcoming animated series and enlisted it in its Summer 2024 lineup.
The story revolves around Jugyeong, a High School student who transfers to Saebom High School after undergoing a makeover. As soon as she enters the elite school, her beauty helps her stand out in the crowd—so much so that she befriends Sujin, a former two-time True Beauty goddess.
However, Sujin has some tricks up her sleeve as she secretly plans to drag Jugyeong down. When Jugyeong summons the courage to confront Sujin, she sets herself up for an intense voting battle against Sujin. As she pursues the pageant, she ventures into a journey of finding her identity in a world that worships “True Beauty.”
