The iconic Prime Video series, The Boys recently wrapped up its fourth season. This made fans extremely curious about Gen V‘s second season. The series featuring Jaz Sinclair is a spin-off of The Boys and is loosely based on the comic’s arc We Gotta Go Now. However, there have been rumors floating about the cancelation of Gen V’s second season. So, is Gen V Season 2 canceled or renewed?
Here is everything you need to know about the spin-off series’ cancelation rumors.
Has Amazon Prime Video canceled Gen V Season 2?
No, Amazon Prime Video has not canceled Gen V Season 2. In October 2023, Gen V was renewed for a second season. However, the show’s production was delayed following actor Chance Perdomo’s demise earlier this year. But, that hasn’t led to the show’s cancelation. It’s moving forward, as confirmed by Amazon MGM Studios’ boss Vernon Sanders.
Recently, in an interview with The Wrap, Sanders gave an update on Season 2. He said:
“We love Gen V. Season 2 is turning out to be really strong. They’ve had their hardships obviously with the loss of Chance but ultimately I think all fans of The Boys are really going to love that second season and stay tuned on whether there’s more.”
But, it will be a while before Season 2 hits Prime Video.
When Will Gen V Season 2 start streaming on Prime Video?
Gen V Season 2 is expected to start streaming on Prime Video by 2025.
In the above-mentioned interview, Sanders confirmed the expected release window of Season 2. He said:
“We are in production now. We’ve been in production for several weeks now, probably a month or two and I’m hoping that will be out next year.”
The first season of Gen V ended on a cliffhanger, raising the stakes for the next chapter. Now, the second one is expected to address all the unanswered questions from Season 1 along with the fate of Andre, the character which was played by Perdomo.
Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, London Thor, Derek Luh, Maddie Phillips, and Asa Germann will reprise their roles. Additionally, Hamish Linklater will be joining as a new character Cipher. Furthermore, Chace Crawford is confirmed to reprise his role of The Deep from The Boys franchise.
