What happens in Serendipity’s Embrace Episode 4?

In Serendipity’s Embrace episode 4, Hye-Ji and Baek Wook wait for Hong-Ju and Hu-Yeong outside the hospital. They discuss about Hu-Yeong’s feelings towards Hong-Ju and plan to join forces to help the pair.

Before meeting Hye-Ji, Hong-Ju requests Hu-Yeong not to flirt with her, leaving the man flabbergasted. While leaving the hospital, Hong-Ju pulls Hye-Ji’s leg by saying that she will not play the cupid. For context, Hu-Yeong has been Hye-Ji’s crush and the female lead character tries to help her best friend. But now Hye-Ji knows Hu-Yeong’s feelings and thus shocks Hong-Ju when she says that she is dating Son Gyeong-Taek.

Hye-Ji and Baek Wook successfully manage to send off Hong-Ju with Hu-Yeong. The latter understands their plan and tries to control his laughter. On their way home, she tries to avoid talking to him. Somehow they end up recalling a funny incident from the past. It was when Hu-Yeong left an important assignment for Hong-Ju. She had skipped school to travel to a different town to confess her feelings to her crush, Bang Jun-Ho.

Coming back to reality, the pair laugh remembering the day. However, Hu-Yeong’s smile vanishes when she refers to the incident as a “bad memory.” He asks the reason and Hong-Ju replies, “Everything related to Bang Jun-Ho is bad.” Hu-Yeong points out that it was not related to the latter but to him.

In the evening, Hong-Ju looks relieved when he returns. She asks what they will have for dinner, and he replies, “You.” By the time, Hong-Ju can react, Hu-Yeong approaches her. He switches off the bedside lamp and leans towards her to kiss her. The next scene shows that she is dreaming about the intimate moment.

When Hong-Ju hurries out of her house, Hu-Yeong returns. He carries her into the apartment again. During their conversation, she mentions that they were not that close in high school. It annoys him and he wonders, “How many times am I getting bumped before confessing my love?”
