Netflix’s The Boyfriend: Who are the final couples of the BL dating show?
The Boyfriend BL dating show aired its final set of episodes 9 and 10 this week on Netflix, which gave the highly popular show its bittersweet conclusion. While some found a partner, others were left heartbroken over their one-sided love. However, all nine cast members spent meaningful time together at the Green Room.
The cast for The Boyfriend season 1 includes Dai, Gensei, Ikuo, Usak, Shun, Kazuto, Ryota, and Alan. Check out which couple/couples were formed at the end of the dating show.
Shun & Dai
Shun and Dai returned to the Green Room after the private date, looking happy and content at the state of their new relationship. Meanwhile, they also confessed to becoming a solid couple to their castmates. Soon after, Shun got mad at Dai over an issue that became a hurdle in their relationship. After Ikuo tried to help him, Dai was irritated at him for meddling in the issue. Eventually, Dai and Shun resolved their arguments when Dai assured his partner of not letting any other issues affect them anymore.
Before leaving the show, Shun invited Dai outside. Shun noted how he’d changed from having reservations about Dai to falling in love with him. Shun further noted how he wasn’t fond of their dates and took some time off. Eventually, he reset himself to find himself falling for Dai. Meanwhile, Dai felt relieved and also in love with Shun. The two sealed their relationship with multiple kisses before leaving the show as a couple.
Kazuto & Alan
Kazuto and Alan spent some meaningful time on their private date. Later, Kazuto expressed being conflicted and unclear about his feelings for Alan. While Kazuto agreed that Alan was special to him as compared to others, he still felt uncertain about their future outside of the show. Alan thanked Kazuto for conveying his feelings as the two spent their time together over dinner.
Before leaving The Boyfriend, Kazuto expressed that although their feelings didn’t always align, he felt much closer to Alan over time. Kazuto further expressed his interest in pursuing Alan outside of the show as he suggested they travel and make memories together. Alan agreed to it and expressed his interest in the same to see if their feelings align. The two left their relationship open before leaving the show hand-in-hand.
Did any other The Boyfriend cast members find love?
Other than the aforementioned pairs, the rest confessed their one-sided love and expressed a meaningful friendship with castmates. Although Gensei went on a date with Ryota, he realized that the latter still had feelings for Kazuto. Gensei chose Ryota as his coffee truck partner and revealed his feelings before deciding to leave the show. He was the second to leave the show after Usak.
The following day, Ikuo chose Dai as his coffee truck partner. He expressed his feelings for Dai through a letter and asked Dai to be his partner. Although Dai was flattered, he expressed Shun’s importance in his life and rejected Ikuo. The latter was relieved to have expressed his feelings before leaving the dating show. Meanwhile, Ryota confessed his feelings one last time to Kazuto in hopes of leaving together. However, after Kazuto’s rejection, Ryota grew emotional and bid farewell to fellow cast members.
Lastly, Taeheon might not have found romance, but he made lifelong friends with his castmates. He expressed his willingness and confidence to come out to his parents after being inspired by his friends on the show. He also left the show after achieving personal growth.
