Boat

Boat, directed by Chimbu Deven, opens the month with a gripping period drama set during World War II. The film is a dramatic thriller set in 1943, where ten strangers find themselves stranded on a boat in the Bay of Bengal with a killer amidst a war-torn Madras Presidency. Yogi Babu features as the boatman faced with a life-or-death decision when a crisis arises at sea.

Thangalaan

One of the most anticipated films this month is Thangalaan, starring Vikram and directed by Pa Ranjith. This Tamil historical drama is set in the 19th century and explores the real story behind the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka. The film sheds light on the exploitation of these gold mines by the British, who extracted over 900 tonnes of gold, a story many are unaware of. 

Vikram’s character believes that a sorceress named Aarathi, played by Malavika Mohanan, is causing turmoil in the region. The plot promises intense action, with Vikram’s character fighting not only human adversaries but also a black panther. The film also features Parvathy Thiruvothu and Hollywood actor Daniel Caltagirone.

Andhagan

Andhagan is the Tamil remake of the cult classic Hindi film Andhadhun. Directed by Thiagarajan, the movie features Prashanth as a blind pianist who becomes a witness to a murder. The story unfolds as he navigates the dangers and complexities of this predicament.

Raghu Thatha
