K-Pop Concert Films, Series, Variety Shows & Their August 2024 Release Dates

Several K-pop concert films and variety shows will be released in August 2024. The intriguing lineup of new releases includes SEVENTEEN and BLACKPINK concert films and the BTS JiKook unit’s variety show. Korean pop concert films have recently become a new addition to the core K-pop experience. In the past few years, multiple artists have released concert films in the theater before moving them to an OTT platform.

The relatively new concept has been a win-win for fans and labels, as watching a K-pop concert film in a theater creates a collective experience. Moreover, fans who can’t watch a concert in person can get an immersive experience, elevating their overall fandom solidarity.

Along with that, viewers are also getting new concepts of variety shows. So, instead of relying on a comeback or new music release, artists can now produce different variety shows for fans. Here’s a look at all the exciting new K-pop films and variety show drops of August 2024.

BTS Jimin and Jungkook’s Are You Sure?

BTS Jungkook and Jimin are in the military, but their pre-filmed variety show Are You Sure? will bereleased on Disney+ on August 8. The first two episodes will air on the premiere day. Later, the show will follow a single episode release every Thursday.

The new travel show of Jimin and Jungkook will be a fun travel montage in which the duo explores Jeju, Sapporo, and New York to participate in various activities. JiKook (Jimin and Jungkook’s unit name) has always been the two most chaotic pair of BTS. So, the Disney+ show will be a perfect opportunity for fans to relish the quirky chemistry of the duo.

BigHit Music noted that Jimin and Jungkook‘s new series will be the summer edition of their travel diaries, where they go on spontaneous adventures.

BLACKPINK Born Pink concert film

YG Entertainment’s BLACKPINK teased a special gift for fans in their upcoming 8th anniversary. The girl group’s record-making Born Pink World Tour’s cinematic version will be released in theaters for limited screenings on July 31.

Later, the girl group will host a mini-reunion and meet 150 lucky fans at the Born Pink concert movie premiere in South Korea. Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa will attend the Pink Carpet event on August 9 for a mini meet-and-greet session with fans.

Furthermore, YG has revealed that the Born Pink concert movie will exclusively show footage from BLACKPINK’s Gocheok Dome concert on September 16 and 17.

SEVENTEEN’s Follow Again To Cinema

SEVENTEEN‘s concert film Follow Again will premiere in South Korea on August 14 at CGV theaters and globally on August 21. The new SEVENTEEN concert cinema will allow Carats to witness the group’s energetic live stages at the Seoul World Cup Stadium concert.

SEVENTEEN’s music label has teased Follow Again will feature the whole group’s live performance of “MAESTRO” and the unit performances of “Spell,” “LALALI,” and “Cheers to Youth.”

Follow Again To Cinemas will comprise various cinematic style adaptations, allowing multiple angles and an immersive overall experience for fans, creating a more live concert feel. It will be available in ScreenX, 4DX, and ultra 4DX theaters.

The Influencer

Netflix will also have a new show for Korean entertainment fans. The new reality show The Influencer will see popular social media personalities participate in exciting challenges. The tasks have various themes, but the goal for the influencers will be to showcase their ability to go viral.

The Influencer will feature a star-studded cast, including Shim Euddeum, star of Physcial:100 season 1, singer Jang Keun-suk, K-Beauty YouTuber RISABAE, Travel YouTuber PaniBottle, His Man season 1 star Junghyun and more.

Alongside the new movie and variety show releases, K-pop fans will have no shortage of new music. Red Velvet, Hyolyn, ZEROBASEONE, and more artists will release their comeback albums this month.
