Netflix has recently announced that Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) will finally take over the mantle of protagonist in Bridgerton Season 4. Benedict’s love interest in An Offer from a Gentleman (2001), the third entry in Julia Quinn’s Bridgertoon book series, is Sophie Beckett, a girl from a humble background who catches Benedict’s attention at the Bridgerton masquerade ball. Now, fans want to know whether Sophie will be Benedict’s love interest in the show as well and if the streaming giant has cast an actor to play her.

Will Sophie be Benedict’s love interest in Bridgerton Season 4?
If the official logline Netflix has released for Season 4 is anything to go by, Sophie will likely be Benedict’s love interest in Bridgerton Season 4. The said logline mentions Benedict will meet a “captivating Lady in Silver” at his mother’s masquerade ball. Those familiar with the book will conclude that this is probably Sophie.
The series didn’t follow the chronology of the book series and adapted book 4 for the third season. In Season 3, Benedict discovers certain aspects of his sexuality through a sexual relationship with Lady Tilley Arnold and her friend Paul. Speaking to Tudum, Thompson explained that his character has always been a little lost, but the fourth season will be about him “trying to find something a bit more solid in himself.” Perhaps, that is exactly what Sophie will bring into Benedict’s life.
Has Netflix cast Sophie Beckett for Bridgerton Season 4?
As of late July 2024, neither Netflix nor people involved in developing the series have divulged any information on the casting of Sophie Beckett in Bridgerton Season 4. The production for the fourth season will reportedly begin in the coming months, so it’s possible that they have already found the actress who will play Sophie.
Back in June 2024, Collider reported that Netflix had released a casting call for a character named “Emily” for Bridgerton Season 4. The character is reportedly an East Asian woman between the ages of 24 and 30. As the role comes with the prospects of nudity and the depictions of sexual intimacy, there were speculations that “Emily” might be one of the protagonists of Season 4. Now that we know Benedict is the main character of the season, it’s possible that Netflix was casting Sophie under the Emily alias. If the speculations are true, fan-favorite Jessie Mei Li of Shadow and Bone fame can be an excellent choice to play Sophie.
