Fans are curious about what happened to Aubrey Plaza. This is after the actress, known for her roles in various projects like Parks and Recreation and The White Lotus, injured herself during a WNBA game. The curiosity only sparked after she was spotted at Saturday’s ABC broadcast of the WNBA All-Star game, wearing crutches and sporting a huge ice wrap on her right knee.
So, what happened to Aubrey Plaza? How did she injure herself? Did it happen at a WNBA game? Here are all the answers.
How did Aubrey Plaza injure herself?
Aubrey Plaza injured herself by tearing her ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament.
According to Deadline, Plaza tore her ACL in a game of knockout at the Phoenix Mercury practice facility on Saturday night, according to Play-By-Play announcer Ryan Ruocco. Her injury reportedly took place between the skills event and the actual WNBA All-Star game. Despite her injury, Plaza attended the All-Star game.
This is Aubrey Plaza’s second ACL tear. The Emily the Criminal star revealed details about her first ACL tear on Friday in an appearance on the A Touch More podcast hosted by Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird, as per SFGate. Rapinoe and Bird sat beside Plaza during the recent WNBA All-Star game on Saturday.
Speaking to Rapinoe and Bird, Plaza revealed that she once disguised herself to play alongside her sister Natalie in a Los Angeles women’s recreation league. Here she also jokingly revealed that she became a “villain” after she tried to forcefully switch her team from the Pistol Shrimps to the Spice Girls, which Natalie was part of. When Plaza did not get to switch her team and after the Spice Girls rejected her, she disguised herself with “a wig and goggles” to play alongside her sister.
Aubrey Plaza then mentioned that she tore her ACL when she went up for a shot while wearing a wig. Plaza called the whole situation “a worst-case scenario.”
In her appearance on A Touch More, Plaza also discussed her love of basketball and even claimed she would like to own a WNBA team one day.
