Who Are 2NE1 Members? Name & Age

K-pop act 2NE1 has announced the group’s 15th-anniversary reunion. Here, we look at the profiles of 2NE1 members and where they are now in 2024.

YG Entertainment’s award-winning K-pop girl group 2NE1 debuted in 2009 with the self-titled extended play. Within a year of the group’s debut, the extended play became massively popular, and it even won a MAMA Daesang (grand prize) for the song “I Don’t Care” in the first mini-album.

The major win of 2NE1 made new history as they became the first K-pop idol group to snag a Daesang in the same year as their debut (at that time). Later, the group rose to prominence nationally and internationally, blending genres of music and bringing a new wave to the Korean music industry.

Profiles of 2NE1 members explored

Since their debut, 2NE1 has had four members: Bom, CL, Dara, and Minzy. After a long hiatus, the group will hold a reunion tour in 2024, which may extend to 2025. So, here, we dive deep into the profiles of 2NE1 members, who are known as some of the most impactful Korean singers the music industry has ever seen.

Bom

(Birthday: March 24, 1984)

Park Bom debuted in 2NE1 as the main vocalist of the K-pop girl group. The 40-year-old singer impressed fans by showing her wide range of vocals and her ability to adapt to any concept of the group.

Besides her singing abilities, Bom is also interested in playing various musical instruments. The singer can play Piano, Flute and Cello. Many new fans are not aware that Bom was rejected multiple times by YGE before getting her chance to debut.

Dara

(Birthday: November 12, 1984)

Sandara Park, aka Dara, is the second-oldest member of 2NE1. She joined the group as the vocalist, sub-rapper, and visual. The 39-year-old singer trained under YG Entertainment for two years before debuting in 2009.

Before joining YG Entertainment, Dara attended the “Star Circle Quest” (2004) in the Philippines and became popular there. Later, she also became the first person in the group to release a solo single, “Kiss” (featuring CL), in 2010.

CL

(Birthday: February 26, 1991)

Lee Chaerin, aka CL, joined 2NE1 as the leader, main rapper, and the group’s lead dancer. Since the beginning of 2NE1, CL showed why fans hailed her as an all-rounder. The former JYP trainee had a diverse music taste.

While 2NE1 underwent several changes, CL debuted in the United States in October 2014. Since then, the singer has attracted most U.S. fans and held multiple solo tours in the U.S.

Minzy

(Birthday: January 18, 1994)

Gong Minji, aka Minzy, is the youngest member (Maknae) of 2NE1. While the singer has previously left the group, she has been united with others to hold their 2024 reunion concert. The 30-year-old Minzy was the lead rapper, main dancer, and vocalist in the group.

Minzy initially left 2NE1 in 2016, which was heartbreaking for ardent followers. YG Entertainment posted a brief statement at the time, noting, “We are sorry to inform the many 2NE1 fans who’ve waited so long. We officially announce that 2NE1’s Maknae Minzy will no longer be a part of 2NE1.”

Where are 2NE1 members now in 2024?

After 2NE1’s hiatus, all members joined solo activities and released albums under various companies. CL is definitely the most active member of the group and has been consistent with her music releases.

Park Bom released her single album “Spring” in 2019 and has released multiple singles and OSTs since her solo debut. Her latest release was the 2023 song “Holding The End Of This Night,” a promotional track in the 18 Project 8th Album.

Dara made her latest comeback in 2023 with the EP Sandara Park under Abyss Company. On the other hand, Minzy has chosen more television show appearances instead of music. In 2022, the singer judged the Thai audition program 9low On Top.

CL released her last studio album, Alpha, in 2021. However, the singer has been active in her idol life by collaborating with various artists and participating in several TV shows as a judge. She recently snagged the Popularity Award – Singer (Female) nomination in the 2023 Asia Artist Awards.

After their return to YG Entertainment, most members of 2NE1 started the celebration by posting a picture of all four members. YG teased that the group will reunite at a Seoul anniversary concert in early October. Later, the act will go on a world tour.
